The countdown is ON...We're T-12 days as I write this and there is just way TOO MUCH I want to get done in that time. Please read this newsletter CAREFULLY as it's filled with end of the year information that is important for you and your learner.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CLASS PLACEMENT FOR 2012-13!
Requesting Teachers for 2012-2013
A form will be available in the main office May 29-June 4 for parents to request teachers for the 2012-2013 school year.
Parents may pick up the form or call the school office to have one sent home with their child.
All forms must be returned by 4:00 p.m on June 4, 2012. This will be the only accepted method for requesting teachers.

And another note about class placements...
Many of you are asking my opinion about your child's class placement for next year. Here are a few "tips" that I want to make sure you know.
- It is VERY HELPFUL for YOU to write out your child's personality and learning style. The more information, the better. This will help immensely in class placement. Also, don't hesitate to put your own desire for involvement in the classroom and/or teacher interaction.
- PLEASE make sure you list FOUR different names as the form states. Forms not filled out properly are not considered.
What We're Learning...We'll be mixing up the math drills between now and the end of the year. Some days we'll do addition and others, subtraction. This will help us remember to READ the sign that is in the problem.
We are finished with Storytown this week and are moving through our ocean theme books as we review all the good reading strategies we've learned throughout the year. Remember to have your child get on RAZ-Kids at least once a week. This is a great way to practice comprehending text and reading books that are an appropriate level. We will be working on our own handwriting books between now and the end of school. Each student will have a book where we practice letter formation, proper pencil grip and writing. In Math we will be continuing "stepping up to First Grade". During this time, we'll overlap some time concepts as well as reviewing the calendar and patterns. Remember to practice the math facts with your child anytime you have a minute or two. Specials this week is SCIENCE and next week is PE. GraduationPlease mark your calendar for our Kindergarten Graduation ceremonies on May 30th at 1:30pm in the cafeteria. Each child needs to bring in $1 to help defray the cost of refreshments at the ceremony. Please send this in with your child ASAP.
Aristocats Field TripWe will be going to see our classmates and other Southside Students in Aristocats on May 23rd. Please remember that everyone agreed to bring a lunch on that day.
Project Day UpdatesMay 25: I have two parents who have agreed to sponsor a craft or exploration on this date from 9:15 until 10:45. If you're able to help out with this date, I have some craft ideas to share. We could use three more "stations" for this fun morning,
June 1st: I have four parents who will be doing crafts/explorations on this date. There is ONE slot available for this event. If you'd like to be included, let me know. PIZZA, Play and Pillows...On the last day of school, Monday June 4th, I would like to have a pizza party in the afternoon from 1:15 to the end of the day. This will be a time when we celebrate all we've learned together this year. We'll play some games and then relax with our pillows and watch a movie together. We are requesting a $3 donation to cover the cost of pizza, drinks and dessert.
Class PictureIf anyone did not order our class picture, I have some extras. They are $12 each.
